Jia Fangzhou

Critic, Curator


Jia Fangzhou was Born in May 1940 in Huguan Country, Shanxi Province, and graduated from the Fine Art Department, Inner Mongolia Normal University in 1964. He Participated in the National Art Exhibition three times, in 1980, he was enrolled in the Chinese Artists Association and then turned to art theory reacerch in1982. During 1998-2001, he became the vice-chairman of Inner Mongolia Artists Association, in1996 he was named National Artist. After 1995, he organized some main activities as art critic and curator in Beijing and issued approximately 2 million words articles as art critics and research, those articles were mainly collected by three collected works—“The new era art Essay ‘pluralism and select’”, ”Diversity”, “Chinese modern art theorist criticized the Wenchong-Jia Ark volume”. He also planned and hosted the “Chinese Art Exhibition: Contemporary Oil Painting Exhibition” , “Century: Women Art Exhibition”, “Fourth Chengdu the Biennale academic exhibition “ etc. As well as the editor of the three-volume critical anthology of “criticism era”and the founder and host of “China Art Critic Network”. He still planned theannual meeting of the Chinese art critic and served as the first session of the rotating presidency. Successfully he has been hired as the visiting professorat the Tianjin Academy of Fine Art, a researcher at Xi’an Academy of Fine Art Institution of Fine Art, the visiting professor at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Art Institution of Fine Art, the researcher of Wu Guanzhong Research Center of Tsinghua University, the Academic Committee member of the Chinese Ministry of Contemporary Art, and the presidency of the sixth and seven AAC Art China Influence Jury.
