Yin Shuangxi was born in Tai’zhou, Jiang’su Province. In 1991, he got his MA degree from Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts.In 2002, he got his PhD in Art History and Theory Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1989, Yin Shuangxi co-curated exhibitions including: “China Modern Art Exhibition”, Beijing, 1989; “Nomination Exhibition of Chinese Art Critics ”, Beijing, 1991-96; “On the Threshold of a New Century: 1979-1999 Chinese”, Chengdu, 1999; “Oriental Sunrise: Chinese Art in 20th Century”, Paris, 2003; Chengdu Biennale, 2005; “People·History: 20th Century Chinese Art Research Exhibition”,Beijing, 2008, etc.
Yin Shuangxi has issued more than 250 million words’ article of art research and critics. His monographs include “Eternal Symbolism: Monument to the People’s Heroes” (2006), etc. He also edited “Completed Works of Wu Guanzhong: Volume Four” (2006), “Completed Works of Zhou Shaohua: Volume Seven” (2010), “Completed Works of Huang Yongyu: Volume Two” (2011), etc. His research articles on Chinese Contemporary Art has been embodied in “Contemporary ChineseArt: Primary Documents” published by MoMA.
Yin Shuangxi was appointed as jury for Venice Biennale’s Macao Part in 2007, for Venice Biennale’s China Part in 2013, jury president of “AAC Art China·Annual Influence” in 2011, etc. He is currently a professor and PhD supervisor at Central Academy of Fine Arts, President and Executive Editor of Art Research magazine, researcher at the National Modern Art Research Institute, Academic Committee member of OCT-Contemporary Art Terminal in Shenzhen, etc.
